Zoom More info The Chevette is fitted with a Datsun 1200 engine, which matches the registration plate. Contributed by bruce joslen Added by shellysowner |
Zoom More info Bruce "found it after lying in a field for 12 years. Hence it has the usual rotten floor pans and firewall below the battery and wash bottle. The rest is reasonably tidy other than the surface rust, which just adds to the character." Contributed by bruce joslen Added by shellysowner |
Zoom More info The car was assembled new in New Zealand in 1979 and has all the available extras of the time including cloth upholstery. Contributed by bruce joslen Added by shellysowner |
Zoom More info Bruce says: "After the 12 years, I put petrol in it, cleaned the plugs, fitted a battery, fired her up and drove the 35 miles home. I might just paint it with fishoilene and leave it like this, as an example of a 'survivor', as all others around are being restored. My family think I'm nuts, which is quite likely true, as you can see." Contributed by bruce joslen Added by shellysowner |
Zoom More info The Chevette, the Caddy, what looks like a Reliant Scimitar and a Rover SD1. Bruce is clearly one lucky guy! Contributed by bruce joslen Added by shellysowner |
Zoom More info A 1979 Chevette GL - ready for a complete restoration! Contributed by 14yearoldchevetter Added by shellysowner |
Zoom More info Thses are follow-up pics to the ones in showroom 72, and were taken later the same day. My brother gave it a bit too much boot at the track, and it ended up backwards into a concrete wall :-( We survived better than the car. Taillights have been ordered from the DSG, and repairs will be carried out soon Contributed by Kevin Singh Added by shellysowner |

Zoom More info A lovely silver Chevette. Contributed by Pinhead Added by shellysowner |
Zoom More info Another submission from Pinhead - apparently Sierra 4x4's don't handle quite as well as this little beauty. Contributed by Pinhead Added by shellysowner |
Zoom More info A rover V8 which is destined for the engine bay in the next pic. There's all kinds of vustom stuff going on here, check out the inlet manifold and how the headers hug the block. Contributed by v8-chevette Added by shellysowner |
Zoom More info Engine bay and tunnel modded for a V8! Contributed by v8-chevette Added by shellysowner |
