looking for someone whos fitted a 1600 to a chevette

has anyone here actually fitted a nova 1600 engine into a chevette?

I'm just concerned that there are going to be a few hidden costs in terms of custom parts and could do with chatting to someone who has actually done it.
when all else fails, rivets, cable ties and bodge tape will see you through

You guys are a right pair of comedians  Sounds like it'd be good craic spannering round a shove-it in your garage. I'll bring the beers, but sadly no further knowledge on how to fit the engine

Tim - Ohh yeah, my bad, it's been stuck in my garage so long I have forgotten who it belongs to!

Doive - I think beer was the problem in the first place mate, since i started drinking working on the chevette in the cold just doesn't seem as appealing anymore! However if i hide all my beer in the garage it might be more of an incentive! I'll get back to you on my progress after i have tried this!

any tips? warnings? what auxilliaries do i need other than the gte engine and the manta 1800 box?

Doive: yeah, spannering with the novadrive crew is always a giggle. If you are ever in the midlands or aberystwyth or at a show that we're at give us a shout and we'll go for that beer

as for being comedians, i'm being serious, GIVE ME BACK MY CAR! :( :( :(

Hi have got mine on a 4 speed quaife ford box with the vaux-ford bell houseing conversion, have also put it on twin carbs so had to lower the alternator mount or i think the 1300 astra bracket will do the job, i also had to fit the the sierra spigot bush to the end of the crank, i made my own grp 4 engine mounts and moved the engine back so had to alter the bulk head to get the dizzy to fit, but i suppose if you fitted the 1800 manta dizzy, bracket and top pulley this would save the bulk head mods ,
plus i have used the standard nova sump with no mods done to it, as a friend ran the same set up in a escort for 2 years and it never gave any trouble , hope this helps
