Hi there,

We're shortly going to be moving over to some new forum software since the current programmed-while-really-drunk-one-night software is getting rather pants as the forum gets more popular!

Here's the prototype of the new forum:

http://www.chevettes.com/forum/

We've only just set it up, so it's not customised yet, but I wanted people's input. What do you think of the topics we've picked? think there should be more/less?

It lets you do fun things like polls, search, have avatars, private messaging, message editing, etc. (stuff other forums have had since the dark ages)

So.. what do people think?

Great - glad you like it! :-D

If you make yourself an account on there, I'll give you admin privs, etc. so you can fiddle about with it if you want!

okz - I've set you up! if you log in now you *should* have moderator access as well as full admin control (I think?! I'm new to this thing...)

There's a "Go to Administration Panel" link at the bottom of every page that lets you alter aspects of the forum - please go ahead and change anything you like!

I'm still learning myself, so not quite sure what else you can do with it!

I'll change over to the new forum when we get a bit of feedback whether people hate it or not (surely not ;)

Enjoy your fiddlin!

Seems OK but cant get to grips with the techno speak, I've just come round to thinking front wheel drive might not be just a fad and you is talking bouts avatars. Seriously though what about a custom / hotrod stylee section or am I being an ethnic minority after all our treasured chariots was born in the 70s

Yeah I know Tim - I used that forum software just to annoy you personally ;)

I love this current forum too because it's so simple! Trouble is that it's got over 13,000 posts in it now (amazing if you think about it..) and it'd be great to have stuff like search, and the different topics, etc.

Was gonna go for vbulletin instead, but this seams easier to use.

Lovely!
Like a few of the other chaps, I already use a forum like this one for owners of a particular type of car with a Lion on the front.
(I liked the Vauxhall Griffin so much, I wanted to get him a mate...)

How come some of your 'posts' scores are so high already?! I was using the old forum for years, but now I'm showing as a newbie

This might answer your question Charlie.

djm wrote:Hi kids,

I've just imported all the posts from the old message boards (all 7,734!). As people transition over and create new accounts here, I'll update your post-count in your profile, etc. so you don't lose anything. I'll be doing this manually so it might not happen immediately. If you've used any different names in the past, private message me (that "pm" button) and i'll included those posts too.

This new forum is still a work in progress so please help us out with suggestions for topics, etc.!

Have fun!

Dave.

Umm, looks like I've got some catching up to do!

And an avatar to select...
