Personal Information

Postby steve p » 19 May 2006, 09:23

I have just recieved an e-mail to my own personal e-mail address from someone wanting to buy my HS group 4 replica,he states he saw pictures on a website and wondered if I would sell it.
The car is NOT forsale,it's only had pictures posted on this site and my personal e-mail details are not displayed or on my personal profile.
Can anyone enlighten me how he got my e-mail address.
I haven't replied to him yet waiting for you computer experts to tell me how he got my details.
Thanks
Steve :?:

Steve, what was the wording in the e-mail, as I suspect it might be one of these " Nigerian "e-mail scams

Any details you have submitted to this site as part of your registration process remain confidential, and are not handed on to any external parties. The only people who would see your details are the admins, and none of us go round handing out email addresses. I have had random personal emails appear in my inbox, no idea how the people got my address.

Steve, you have an email button at the bottom of your posts & also in your profile, if that`s clicked it will send you a mail to your registered address, but the sender does not see the address it`s going to.

PM me the mail, I`ll check it against the addys registered with the site.

Well I have a new best friend in Italy who has a fantastic Kadett GT/E rally car he's found this site so hopefully will post some pics of his car.
His English is 1000 times better than my Italian so comunication is not a problem.
His car has great history winning the Italian Rally Championship for Group one in 1980.

Before you say anything..... no i cant spell or type!

The post above is my own personal opinion, it is not meant to upset or cause offence, if it does bugger off.

I think it is the same guy who was very interested in the HS I recently sold. We got bogged down because of export regulations, and lack of knowledge with regards to what documentation you need etc. it was going to cause a delay of several weeks which was'nt an option I could accept.

He sent me a pic of his Kadette in action, a very nice car.

He also told me it was up for sale.
