Well the Shuv-it-Rallying team will be competing for the first time in ages on this weekends Glyn Memorial Stages Rally at Ty Croes on Anglesey.

Sadly I won't be navigating for this one as my brother is having his first go in the loopy seat! So I'll be on the spanners in case something goes wrong .

My other brother will be there as the team photographer as he doesn't like getting his hands dirty, so i'll post some nice pics up on here after the event hopefully.

Didn't mention in the first post that we're seeded behind several F1000 (1 litre) cars and a hybrid electric car!!!!

Better make sure that the horn is working properly me thinks.

patience - wait for a nice tight corner, close up really tight on them then use your torque and power on the exit - really frustrating if you enter a tight section right behind them but the closer you are to their tail they will either slow down or fall off (experianced both, latter is far worse as you have no idea where they wil go) i would question the safety of seeding a 2.0 car behind f1000's and a hybrid though.

horn is a waste of good air - have you ever been able to hear one inside the car?

i very nearly punted the daughter of a friend (she is now a friend as well) into the boondocks when she didn't pull over quite as quickly as i thought she would. it was her first event and the car was considerably slower than mine.

that happened to me twice on the jersey just get the lights on full beam,as pete says you can't hear a horn when your reving it hard

Well a good weekends rallying was had. Only problem being a few punctures and leaving the radiator cap off for one stage, apparently resulting in the car becoming like a sauna!

Finished 34th overall sandwiched between two 1 lire Micras, the're quicker than you might imagine .

There was another Chevette in the event. An absolutely mint HSR arched example running a dry sumped 16V XE.

sorry a 1 litre micra is not quicker than i think, they are slow, they have to be slow otherwise why bother with a 2 litre. shame on you!

actually i had a bit of a problem getting round a swift gti (grp n) i could close on him but not quick enough to get round before the next corner. he had a little slip and had to back off though so i guess he was going a bit quicker than he should have.

Next event is likely to be in the new year when 16V XE engine has been fitted in place of the current 8V lump, also a few other tweaks to be done.

Hopefully I will be back in the passengers seat for that one .
