kadett panels on a chevette?

Postby Tony » 18 Jan 2005, 19:25

is it possible to fit kadett c wings, bonnet and front panel onto a chevette?

i had a look a a chevette earlier but it could do with a pair of new front wings which gave me the idea
if it has pistons or tits, its going to be expensive

I suppose it would be possible as they are the same base unit but I think you would have to change all the panels ahead of the windscreen (although possibly the inner wings are the same?). Also from my experience Kadett body panels are much harder to come across than the chevette items, and things like lights and grille are all but impossible.

If its only a set of wings the car needs it seems like a very over the top solution to a fairly simple problem. At the minute there are a set of chevette wings on ebay only making 19 quid, or else speak to Tim a TJ Motorsport who will sort you out with a set of GRP ones.

I emailed them with a substantial list of parts (that I was intending to buy!!) about a month and a half ago, am still waiting for a price. They got the email because I got the confirmation back saying they had. If this is the way they treat all their customers...

If you do get a price back from them, please let me know.

Panels

Postby Mantadoc » 13 Mar 2005, 23:03

I've been getting Kadett Panels off Hadrien for years, think the last time I bought wings off them was 4 years ago and have had front valances and sills and arches etc in between. Last time I had some stuff they had to do stock counts as they were down to single figures on some items so I don't think they are making new stuff although maybe they are. Anyway they always answered the phone and email fine for me, but to have stuff delivered direct was gonna be expensive so it was cheaper to go through one of their re-sellers. Bizarre thing is a shop in Chester was their farthest North (or was it South) re-seller at the time, obviously things may have changed since then.

Is it me or have Kadett prices gone loopy! Seems anything with an MOT makes £1500 on ebay lately. The supply of decent "scrappers" seems to have dried up a little.

The supply of decent anything for the Kadett seems to have dried up. You are right about the prices, I can't work it out. Well over a grand in almost every case for something MoT'd. Incentive to get mine restored then!

retro has become cool again and the parts are just getting so hard to source. Part of me would really REALLY love a kadette, but I just cant afford another car and have nowhere to put one; but th ebiggest thing to put me off is the complete lack of parts.
when all else fails, rivets, cable ties and bodge tape will see you through
