Breaking Chevette

Postby coggers » 09 Jan 2008, 21:20

I'm going to get a couple of parts off a Chevette which is being broken , hopefully this weekend , details are a bit vague other than it's a hatch . all I know is that the following bits are definately NOT there - headlights ,dash , wiring loom , side windows.

If there's anything you may be looking for , PM me and I'll do my best to get the bits for you..

Whereabouts is this one located mate? If it's local I'd be happy to pop across and give you a hand breaking it if you like? I can't think of owt I really need (other than a new bodyshell), but I'd be happy to get the spanners out.

Coggers,

I'd be interested in the steering rack, front crossmember, upper and lower front wishbones, front suspension top mount caps.

Cheers

Doive - he's not really local to me , but I was going to see a pal of mine in the same area so thought I'd combine the trip.. still waiting for a phone call about the Chevette so it may not be this weekend.

I've got a list of what everybody's after though

TJM - 'suspension top mount caps ' are we talking about the 2 conical bits of the inner wings where the shockers pop through ?

Hello coggers

Yes that is them. I am going to see if I can get them remade saving cutting them out of perfectly good shells in the future.

Cheers

Turrets for hatches would be a nice idea as well - 8)

TJM - ok I'll see if I can nab them .

I can understand the interest in the rear turrets but is there genuinely a demand for the fronts ? I only ask because of all the Chevettes I've had over the years I never had a problem with mine - or was I just very lucky ? Never really thought it was a common enough problem with them unlike the strut tops on the old Fords.

Regardless , be nice to see some parts being re-manufactured again

They are handy on rally cars for double skinning for extra strength and it does seem a shame to cut them out of a good car.

Cheers anyway

If the interior is the same colour vinyl as mine (kinda beige) then I'd love some interior trim panels.
