ideally getrag direct top or zf five speed

will consider any box which will fit the slant 4 - i just need to get the car working!

hi there,

i have a 4 speed overdrive gearbox on ebay at the mom, i think you asked me a question about the getrag i replaced it. this would be a good box to start with :)

yeah that was me.

the collection only bit is the problem - i'm up north west and the car currently in east yorkshire getting sorted

looks as if i may have to bite the bullet and get a zf / getrag for loads of wonga - starting to wonder if the xe route would have been easier / cheaper and forget the retro ' ness

maybe a daft question - does anyone have a spare bellhousing for a slant 4 i can borrow? may have a mate who can do a conversion plate for another box

Bedford cf gearboxes any good to you? I can get my hands on a few!

Ok, give me a good weeks notice because the gearbox's are still fitted in the ice cream trucks!

Something to watch out for, there were, IIRC, four different gearboxes fitted to the CF Bedies.
Base model (18cwt to, perhaps, the 28 cwt)
Wide ratio (5.7ish first) cast iron for the 35cwt - maybe the 28cwt as well - don't remember.
Four speed ZF - also a very low first gear and alloy housing - quite different from the car variant, sadly.
Five speed ZF, very low first and second gears. -modified version of above.

yes - crawler boxes on the bedfords - with the wrong diff makes a 3 speed car!
