Juts a note for everyone.

These racks are designed for use with Group 4 Coupling as std item is difficult to get, they can and will fit standard coupling but need a flat put on the pinion shaft to allow the pinch bolt on the steering coupling to slide through.

Tim I know your away but HELP!!!!

I bought a quick rack kit and it won't fit the rack on my chevette, the casing is too small to accept the pinion...

I also bought a second hand complete quick rack from someone else and that won't fit the car... that has a rectangular pinion coming out the same size as the one on the column so I have nothing to connect them together

None of this is your fault but we have the first rally in 6 weeks and no steering....

Anyone got a standard chevette rack? I guess that's what I need to fit this kit into

PS.. Both racks I have are badged opel and have the same part numbers

You can get recon std racks from your local motor factors, you want the late type rack with removable steering coupling. Last time I checked they were about £30 but cannot remember if that was exchange or not. I do remember there was also a surcharge on top of about £12 so it must of been exchange.

I think both Quinton Hazel and AMK Automotive make them. I don't have any std racks in stock at all though, sorry.

It does sound more like you have a Kadett GTE / Manta rack as they have a square drive instead of the spline drive.

Craig, I believe they're also 2.5:1 against the 2.7:1 you tried in mine the other week - even better!

Tim, there are also a few others down here interested - I've posted in the thread that you have some made and hopefully they'll pull finger for a better delivery cost.

I tell you what Gordo, we'll see how many we can get to pay the $$ and get in on this and we'll try a big shipment. I tell you Gordo, I'm tempted to start my own shop importing Tim's kit!

Out of the five I have coming in 3 are already spoken for but I can get others made in larger batches and could probably do a better deal and postage costs are as follows:

For a parcel weighing 25 kg with dimensions of 60cm x 10cm x 10cm which should be enough for about 5 rack kits approx £130-£150 inc compansation for £500.

For one rack it will be about £70-£90 so well worth getting more than one in a box.

This is just from one of the couriers I use, can get other quotes.
