Speeding ticket

Postby Doive » 23 Mar 2006, 18:07

Well, I'm officially a criminal. Got a ticket today for doing 40 in a 30, along with about 30 other cars all in the same queue. I'm a bit pissed off to say the least, especially as the scamera van was unmarked and hidden away at the side of the road out of sight. It was the middle of the day, on the last 100 yards out of a very small village in Dumfries, everyone else was doing the same speed, there was nobody about at all. I'd see through it if it had been a big city at the height of rush hour, but hey ho.

Obviously they want us to drive around with our eyes welded to the speedo, keep to the limit at all costs, never mind that kid you just ran over. Pains in the bottom. Grrrrrrrrr.

Come on Doive. 40 in a 30 isn't drifting a bit over, it's a third again the speed limit - there's not really any excuse.

Having said that, clocking you as you go out of the restriction is taking the piss a bit, and if they weren't correctly marked and complying with the relevant law it's illegal. If you're sure, protest.

I know that 40 in the 30 is a bit OTT mate, that's why I'm just going to pay it and say no more about it. Now if they had caught me in the middle of the village (where I was deffo doing 30) I'd accept it, but on the way out everyone was naturally speeding up anyway - tell me you don't do it as well? Easy pickings for them really.

No, I don't, but that's probably because I'm paranoid about speed cameras!

Cheers lads - I feel a whole lot better

My trump card was the fact I have a NI licence, and that tickets issued on the mainland can't be accredited to a NI licence. Or at least they couldn't until 2004, so my solicitor tells me. So that's that loophole closed - the points stand.

(Note to self - stop whinging, pay the fine and get on with it)

*Checks speedo. Again.*

Sounds nice Neil  .

I found out why there ar so many dead badgers on the road the other day.

The farmers hate them cause of this TB thing, so they shoot them and then throw them out onto a road to make it look like road kill.

i don't think farmer Giles with his shotgun is going to kill many. a much more plausable reason is if quite a few have been killed in a concentrated area then it's because there is a sett nearby. if they are quite spread out then yes they've been shot.

They tend not to shoot them now, they inject them with poison or a strong sedative. Believe it, it happens.
