The firing order on the Kadett is 1-3-4-2 so set your engine to TDC and the contact on the dizzy cap closest to the rotor arm tip is cylinder 1. Can't remember if the dizzy rotates clockwise or anticlockwise, the engine is turned anticlockwise so try that and see which direction the dizzy turns in. Follow the rotor arm round, the next contact will be cylinder 3, then 4, then 2. Leads for cylinders 1 and 2 go over the top of the rocker cover, 3 and 4 go round the back of the head under the carb. Golden rule of replacing plug leads - always do one at a time!!

If you have in fact set the engine to cylinder 4 TDC (easy to do) the engine won't fire so swap leads 1 & 4, and 2 & 3 around to give the correct order. Cylinder 1 is usually at TDC when the rotor arm is pointing towards the radiator cap if I recall correctly.

On my auto data CD it says i should have the bosch dizzy, and i have, it would seem, the delco one.

Is the right being the Kadett is a 1979 model?

As far as I can tell all Kadetts from 77-79 were fitted with the bosch type dizzy, mine is anyway. Yours could be a strange parts bin job as they tried to get rid of all the delco dizzys, or perhaps someone has retro fitted one in the past. Anyhow, glad to hear you got it to run again.

Get it anyway & try it. Never refuse anything that`s free. Even if you don`t need it, take it & chuck it. The first time you refuse, you`ll not get anything offered again from them, & they could have something you want in the future!!! 8)
