Knocking noise

Postby iety2004 » 14 Mar 2005, 20:54

There been a knocking nosie coming from the front shock absorber area of my Kadett.

The previous owner dented the wing by the top of the shock absorber.

So do u guy think it could be the shock itself or one of the mountings?

This depends on what kind of shocks you are using. Have a look at yours because I have a knocking from both sides - turns out there is a plastic cover on the shock rod that rattles about as it moves. Wish I'd taken them off before fitiing because the noise is terrible if Radio 2 isn't on! Previously I had metal tubed struts fitted and never had this problem. If you don't have this plastic cover, then I would closely examine all the suspension bushes and if these appear fine take the hub off and have a look at the bearings.

They`re the plastic types, I got a set of Blisteins for the front, but they`re looking a bit sorry for themselves.

I remember in Retro Cars that a company refurbishes these and were reasonable priced. Any ideas?
