only ever having experience of uprating my mk1 escort it was easy to go to the local scrapyard and search for a higher output alternator just by looking at the casing because i knew what would fit, is it the same with a chevette or is it more beneficial to source one from a different model for that higher thinking for spotlights here.

I have a pair of 100W spots fitted to mine that come on with the main beam and are separately switched, and the alternator seems to handle these fine. Some of the rally boys will have done alternator swaps to feed their mega daylight spots. I'm not certain what would be a straight swap, but anything is possible with a few imaginative brackets.

You can bolt a Lucas ACR series straight on but you'll need to change the connector on the wiring harness.

BTDT after giving up on scrappy delcos which seemed to last about a week.
