Electronic Ignition

Postby donlondon » 21 May 2006, 21:56

I've been pricing up electronic ignition in order to make my little car a bit more reliable on starting. Seems to be a tad on the expensive side and so I had a little idea:

Would I be able to pull the electronic ignition out of a corsa or similar small engined car and rig it into my standard 1256 chevette?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Well first and foremost Don - what type of dizzy does your car have? If it's the AC Delco variety then I'm afraid there isn't much out there that I would describe as cheap. If, however, you have a Bosch type dizzy then Aldon 'Ignitor' electronic ignition is about your best bet on the cost front (Aldon do list several Delco kits but I'm reliably informed that none of them fit). You'll find them at www.aldonauto.co.uk

Thanks for the quick response shellysowner

It is indeed an AC Delco sadly. I was just wondering if I could doctor it with ignition off another small car?
