Rollcages

Postby TJM » 03 Jul 2008, 15:21

Is there anyone near Manchester who wants a rollcage for their Chevette Hatch?

I am looking for a willing volunteer who is able to leave a car with one of my suppliers for a couple of weeks or so, this is so we can get a 6 point bolt in cage made as a pattern to produce a jig.

As a form of compensation I will pay for half the cage upto a maximum of £200, to give you an idea an Escort Bolt in Cage is £375 inc powdercoating and delivery to UK Mainland, with diagonals and doorbars costing extra.

Regards

If you ever want to jig one up for saloon..............

Can you supply bolt in diagonals for the rear stays/main loop? I found some clamps on ebay but I think they are designed for door bars and to fit at right angles to the tubing.

I dont want to weld a diagonal in!

Tim,

I have this shell mate it is stripped bare but rolling i would be willing to take it up to Manchester for you, BUT i would have to really have a 100 % promise that you would pay £200 towards it unlike the time i fettled the Bias pedal box for you and got no discount on a new pedal box as you promissed then !!!
I realise you had problems with your supplier / manufacturer with the pedal box etc but Manchester is approx 40 miles away from me and i would have to call in a favour to borrow a trailer because mine is knackered at the moment and its gonna cost me best part of £50 round trip to trailer itup there and back BUT a stripped shell would be better for them ??? OH and it would have to be delivered at the weekend as i have a new job and work away all week.

Hi Dai

This is an old thread now and since then 3 companies are now manufacturing rollcages for the Chevette.

Custom Cages - To Historic Spec (Weld In)
Rollcentre - Weld In Kit
Safety Devices - Bolt In

With this in mind I decided to not go ahead with this.

Sorry for not sorting out some discount for you but you are right problems with manufacturer of pedal box who was going to make and draw up plans. Give me a shout and I will of course sort out some discount as a thankyou. I do have a bad memory and sometimes need a little nudge to remind me.

Send me an email too as I might be able to dig up some info on the shell you are preparing. I took some rough measurements of CEB235V works shell that Prepfab have when I was up there.

I also have some Works tall turrets and axle brackets in kit form and quite a few of the other panels to prep the shell. If you are putting an Atlas axle in I also have measurements for both short and long link versions. The only thing I don't have is the measurements for the long link conversion as I am keeping mine as SWB.
