Chevette Clocks

Postby Trevette » 09 Jan 2007, 06:51

Does anyone know what other clocks fit in a Chevette. Obviously the HS clocks do, but they're so hard to find and always silly prices. I've heard Nova clocks fit, but has anyone ever done it. I'm after sonething with a rev counter, speedo, fuel gauge and temp gauge all in one. So Nova GSi, GTe or SRi clocks would be fine if they fit.

Any ideas????

I some how managed to fit Ford Escort Mk1 1600 GT Rev counter and speedo into my bezle in the pinto Chevette I had.

Fuel, Oil pressure and Water Temp were in a triple gauge from a Wolsley 1800 and was fitted in the speaker grill between the air vents.

If the Nova SR clocks fit, wouldn't the Astra mk2 digital dash fit as well?

If the Nova clocks fit then the Astra GTE digital clocks should too, but they look too tacky. I won't be going for the digital option. Cheers tho.

Does the nova stuff all fit in the same bezel so no console required or something?

What about stripping Manta dashes? Rev counter looks Like Kadett SR item which I understand is the same?

I have a spare Kadett SR setup which is like GTE and prob HSR too (although not sure if one of them has clocks angled wrong way lol).

Kadett instruments are top pivoting needles (needles hang down), and the Manta ones are bottom pivotting. The pre-exclusive ones match the Kadett clock colour scheme. and the spacing might be right for cutting down a Manta cluster and maybe using the board. If the board is out they would just need mounting in an insulating material and solder to connectors, easy enough. I have releasing agent but no black Gel coat, just need to drum op the courage to cover close to 100 quids worth of centre console in goop! And even if I did would anyone want one?

I've now got hold of some Nova GSi clocks. These have the 2 large clocks (speedo and revs) and 4 small clocks in the centre (fuel, temp, oil pressure and battery). They're going to need a little bit of modifying to make them fit but i'm pretty sure its possible.
