Tail light spacing

Postby Shellysowner » 29 Dec 2006, 23:35

Just to satisfy my curiosity, can someone measure the distance between the inner edges of their rear light clusters on a saloon? I know we had this discussion once before but it never got properly resolved.

I will measure Shelly tomorrow for comparison.

So 28.14 inches Adam, a saloon perchance?

There we go then, mystery solved. Saloons have the tail lights roughly 2 inches closer together than hatches.

I assume 2 and 4 door saloons are the same?

Just measured my wife's Kadett Coupe as 714 mm tail light inner to tail light inner.

This is pretty interesting for me as I have a NOS chevette saloon rear panel (complete with holes for the letters) that I was planning on using for hers.

Now if any chevette owner has the equivalent for a Kadett and wants to swap let me know. My panel does have slight surface rust so if yours is mint I don't mind a cash adjustment. I don't really want to have to weld up the badge holes and / or weld in the numberplate recess off the Kadett
