Repair panel - under washer bottle

Postby Chevette_Rwd_Beast » 31 Oct 2006, 17:07

ok I finally did something to my chevette, took the washer bottle out to see the damage of the rust underneath, took it off an it appeared to be just surface rust, until I tapped it with my fingernail, there is 2 little holes (nothing to cry about :)) I was wondering if you can buy a repair panel for it?

I would like to cut it out and weld a new panel in rather than weld a plate over it, I had a quick look on hadrian panels site but couldn't find any repair panel for that area :(

anyone know where I could get a repair panel? or would I be better just making a metal plate as a repair panel?

Cheers

I had mine done there as well, no repair panels exist as far as I know. Best bet is to make up a repair yourself.

if you've got some quite severe rust there then check the footwell as well
if you cut out some sheet metal so it overlaps the holes and hold it from the inside of the car against the bulkhead, once welded in place you can fill it and smooth it back so it looks like it's never been repaired....if that's the look your after 8)
