What thickness should i use?

Postby iety2004 » 27 Sep 2005, 14:32

Hi, need to buy some mild steel to carry out repairs on my door skins before they completely rust through.

At the moment they are just rusted badly at the bottom, so im gonna buy a sheet of steel and cut to the right size after i have cut away all the rust and then weld new in.

So what thickness should i use? i can't remember the sizing

Cheers

Gareth

Probably 16 or 18 gauge mate. Could try 12 like they do for Volvos.
