What you planning now?

The Nova TD is going to have stupidly long ratios I would imagine as a diesel is all said and done by 3000 rpm. Be no good if you could only hit 5 mph in first! Also a diesel has the ability to pull a much higher ratio. I know the 1.7 fitted to mk3 astras was an Isuzu unit, strong as several oxen by all accounts. Not sure about the origin of the 1.5 though.

I'm gonna drop a corsa three pot in my chevette when the 1256 pops.

folks who do you think owns Izuzu? give you a clue, Lotus used a Izuzu engine in the Elan as the then owners of Lotus insisted.

the pantom grip diff would be of little use on a rwd car, it has a very low level of lock even with their most powerful springs. i have heard of someone who was getting some bike clutch material bonded onto a PG to try and increase the lock. on a fwd car they tuck the nose in a bit on medium bends but not on tight ones or medium grip surfaces.

all it consists of is 2 blocks of steel and some die springs pressing out on the output cogs, easy to machine up.

knowledge comes from having one in a swift by the way.

Space kadett is doing the Izuzu Transplant, ie heard about the floor pan aswell. I think people underestimate the 1256 big time. Its mounted low and back in the engine bay and is a load lighter than an 1800 manta (so it the box though a 4 speed) the engine can rev its nuts off (mine revs to 7400rpm limited by the valvesprings but not for long) The engine can be made into a bit of an animal and with a stripped out/ lightened shuv with well sorted sus can beat more powerful cars. After looking into insurance im forced to stick with the 1256, so i plan to further develop mine. Im going to set the engine up on injection running roller barrel throttle bodies (well one as its only a 6 port) and mapped ingnition with megasquirt/jolt. I really need an LSD in mine, has anyone got any information about the 1256 LSD? Pics or sales bunf?
