What 14" steel wheels will fit...?

Postby shoveitnz » 02 Nov 2006, 15:39

I want to fit some wider steel wheels. I'd like to go no bigger then 14" to keep the car looking as close to standard as possible. Maybe 6"-possibly 7" wide?
Has anyone out there got some ideas as to what cars have wheels that would do the job.

Am I right in thinking 60 series tyres at around 185/195 on a 14" rim would be about the same overall diameter and fit in ok (so long as offsets stay around the same)..

Something VW`ish?, dunno what standard steelie sizes are these days. But 4x100 35-40 et will do.

You want 185/60 or 195/55 to keep the rolling radius.

BMW E21 and E30 four stud wheels would do the job, all have 100mm PCD apart from the E30 M3, which has 5x120mm I think.

ET refers to the offset of the wheels, how far away from the centre line of the wheel rim the mounting face is.

Some of the base model E30s like the 316 and 318, and even a few 320s came with steel wheels with nasty wheeltrims. I expect you could pick up a set off ebay for a few pounds.
