175 cd carbs.

Postby Shellysowner » 27 Mar 2005, 03:02

Hello, what does anyone know about 175cd carbs. I'm assuming for a swap I'd need a bog standard, non-auto choke, non-cd2, non emissions gear having one. Is there any massive advantage to be gained from doing this? Does anyone know waht vehicles had suitable carbs?

not worth the effort without engine mods to use the increased capacity in my opinion.

FWIW the Talbot (Chrysler) Sunbeam 1600 GLS had a 175CD Stromberg fitted. You won't bolt it straight onto a standard manifold 'cos it has 4 bolt fixing, not 2 like the 150CD.

I reckon you'ld be better playing with SU's, though- there's very little in the way of needle etc choice available for Strombergs.

Have fun

Are you sure? Looking at pics the 175cd seems to have a 3-bolt fitting whcih looks exactly like the 150cd fitting except for an extra piece of metal with a bolthole in it at the top.
