XE into my chevette??

Postby Raver » 31 Jan 2005, 18:43

Ive been thinkin about dropping the 2ltr xe into my chevette as the current engine could idealy do with new pistons , rings and a rebore and i could pick up te xe for about the same price anyway and it has a bit more tuning potential that the x-flow engine.
Anyway what i wanted to know is how easy/hard is this to do and what is needed? i already have the manta A rear axle but its running a sierra box atm.

any help would be much appreciated.

well i know you can get a ford type 9 to xe bell housing so i would say all you need to do is get that and then mount it in with manta mounts but they may need modifying slightly. but i may be wrong correct me if i am someone.

if not manta gearboxes arent to dear if you look around, then it's just the matter of finding the right prop. you'll also need the manta sump. not sure about the clutch(?). The XE isnt an easy conversion from what i've heard, but it depends on how happy you are working with engines
when all else fails, rivets, cable ties and bodge tape will see you through
