tuning/uprated parts?!?

Postby greatbignath » 06 Dec 2004, 02:22

hi,
Im after any info i can get about tuning and uprating a chevette (vauxhall).
Im really interested in uprating the brakes, as im having a little trouble with mine siezing on!! they are standard type front calipers on a 81 shuvit saloon. Are there any straight swaps that i cud use?
Also what are the best ways of squeezin as much power out of the engine without changing any of the internals? weber carb, air filter, sparky plugs, etc. which are the best ones to go for?

i have a standard car but want a little more power out of it without modding it to much.

cheers for any advice given,
nathan.
hmmm its not a ford!!

Racer 86 is also after some tuning info and I have a couple of documents downloaded that someone posted on the forum months ago. If you drop me your email address I can send them to you as attachments? I'm sure they will be of some use, I think they give advice on carb setups and stuff, but they also go into fast road cams and porting your cylinder head and things like that. Apparently with a decent Weber and a fast cam the little 1256 can put out 85bhp! Wahey! Lets all go Impreza-chasing. Ours handle better anyway.

Belly scanned in his copies of the docs a couple of months ago and DJM changed them into a webpage here. Saves me emailing you two 4MB files and crashing your inbox. :D
