Postby ross.cheeks » 05 Feb 2007, 15:54

just got hold of one and going to use it for a uni project. basically im gonna strip it all clean it alll up and make it lok tidy. i know the big end bearings need to be change but other than that its alrite. in uni they got the stuff to port it etc so mite have a go then if its any good stick it in the chevette.

just wondering where to get parts from will most motorfactors do parts for it?

also what should it do to it seeing as its gonna be stripped down as regards improving it?

cheers ross.

If it's the 1.2 engine, this lived on for years in various mk1 Novas and mk1/mk2 Astras. I think the internal parts are largely interchangeable, although obviously the Kadett engine will be rwd while the nova/astra versions will be fwd. I think there may have been ancilliary changes to things like the dizzy, but bearings etc should be the same. I think the 1.2S engine had different pistons fitted to the 1.2N.
