Nice one guys. Would the second one hinder the performance? I wanna aim for close to 170 bhp if I can. Considering a Janspeed copy is gonna set me back £300 at least!

Spotted it this morning. This doesn't look like some of the Janspeed ones I have seen for the Chevette, but I'm sure it will work?

It will work but will it fit in the car along with the engine? Perhaps Sean or Pete can advise?

Have spotted something that may work? As the Firenza rally head I got matches up ok will this work?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-2300-VIV ... dZViewItem

Was thinking if the head I have is infact from a works Firenza, would the valves be the sizes I stated? I'm presuming not.

Just a thought.

I'd guess that's a standard HPF head.

They came in both forms

HSR etc - 16v
Firenza/Magnum - 8v

16v's were used in the HS too, especially for competition

i believe the blocks were slightly different, though the 16v head can be fitted to the 8v block. as can the Lotus head.

you cannot use either the hs or lotus engine for road rallies as they never came with fuel injection. the 8v engine can be used but it is heavy and not a patch on a modern twin cam with it's injection system.

Just re-reading the thread - I believe the cam' used a smaller base circle, the valves being longer to get the adjusters back into range. May be mistaken though - been a while.

very roughly...

8v 120 - 190bhp fwhp

16v 150 - 240bhp fwhp

as for torque - top end 8v about the same 180lb/ft - 16v not that much more.
