engine transplant.

out of curiosty

even thou money is a big issue at the moment...

i was looking at an engine transplant... if i could get a reasonably good doner manta ie rear axel gearbox etc etc, could i use all the parts??

is a manta a better choice than a XE engine or cavalier 2.0 16valver redtop?

what power amounts are the manta gearbox and axel good for?

ive been told that a 1.8 8 valve manta is better and more tune-able than the 2.0 version..

ive also been reading hsr2.6's website... and found it very imformative

is the manta engine the prefered and best way to go?

or is it down to personall preference...

work isnt a problem and even thou i have good knowledge of engine swapping, is there an incredible amount of work involved..

ive put a cavalier redtop engine in a mk2 fiesta before.. and the engine seemed to work well...

but due to rear wheel drive and mounting the block sideways for rear wheel drive is it actually ethical ?

1.8 manta parts would be the way to go for an xe conversion but every one else has had the same idea and so they have gone expensive

1800 manta engine is the most simple conversion

however an 2.0 16V / XE / red top is lighter than a manta block and is good for about 185BHP as standard. However this isnt a cheap conversion - i'd say budget for about a grand if you dont have a cheap source for everything

have a search through the forum and i have listed somewhere the pros and cons of conversion options and what they would need.

alcohol doesnt make us say silly things it makes us realise the things we want to say or do but were too blurry whilst sober :P
when all else fails, rivets, cable ties and bodge tape will see you through
