LOL.

Yeah Its getting a bit "snug" here what with the Aircraft and My Chevette SYBil in the garage, 2 piazza's, my 405 and the wifes Nissan Prim P12 and the car trailer in the front drive, and 2 chevette's, 2 dismantled aircraft and a small trailer round the back.

Might have room for one more though!!?? :?

Searyarsly, the Piazza's have to be broken up and scraped for the piazette project, scrap one of the Chevette's and the new Chevette is sold to Dad who is going to use it as a run about. The aircraft are going to my new big workshop and the blue Chevette is the recipient of the Piazza stuff.

So that makes 2 Chevette's and the daily cars + the two trailers.

Better.

 Whaaaaaaa,,, Having just received Runner up in the 80's class at Newbury and driven home in the pi....... oops sorry, poring rain only to find the windscreen leaks at the left lower corner.

I was taking the seats out to swap for the green head restrainted ones in Dads car and found a wet carpet so sealed screen and lifted carpet to dry. With both seats out I found that the rear passenger offside foot well was wet too!!

1/2 hour later the rear seat base, carpet and soggy sound proofing were removed. I knocked all that orrible black bitumen stuff out of the whole floor pan front and back to find light rust in the offside passenger well, phew!. The water was coming in through that bloody seatbelt captive nut in the wheel well, that will be sorted by fitting the rear belts and sealing with Tiger seal in the outside.

As I was feeling around vacuuming out and stuff I found the front bulkhead sound proofing on the drivers site to be wet too on the bottom edge below the steering column. This was also removed where I found a nasty bubble of rust under the sealant stuff that is smeared on all the joints.

After scrapping away for a bit and removing sealant, My worst fear was realised, ARRRRRR, A HOLE!!!!! Its right at the point where the floor pan is spot welded to the lower wishbone attach point on the chassis.

Tricky one to weld as its behind the peddles and just clear of the attch bracket, wich also needs attention

This seems to be caused by the water exit point from the air inlet grill for the heater by the battery. The water runs down the bulk head it this point and runs down between the floor pan and this attach bracket getting trapped and rusting. The passenger side is in good order.

Prevention is to spray lots of ACF-50 into the offending area to kill the rust and to penetrate to the deepest depths of the area and then to spray copious amounts of Wax oil.

So, I am now driving around in a one seat carpetless non sound deadened SYBil :( :(

Watch this space for an update, some time. :?

I always said that they should use a hose pipe at these shows
I have visions of you and SYBil driving down the road dipping water, while lots of little cable ties float around the foot wells inside with you
Hope it gets sorted soon mate.

Well, theres support and compation for you. Thanks a lot guys  At least Grim said some words of good will

Suppose you all feel better now that SYBil has a very small tin worm wriggling about. Still its a dead tin worm as soon as the welder hits it.

Probs should be sorted very soon and then she will be back to even better condition as I think I will slap a set of new carpets in there while I have all the interior out. I will get the doors sorted too and fit the NOS gearbox and mud flaps. Looking to get new rear springs with gas shocks all round some time as the bottom end feels a bit too firm.

Got the tracking, camber and castor checked the other day too even though traking was only very slightly out, the change has made a hell of a diffrence to the handling, she is now an absolute pleasure to drive.

Well, I would not say its vast. More like 1.5 inches round and there is only one of them. The rest was just surface rust thtas treatable.

Not like Dads Hatch,!!

My A reg Hatch. Yup. Mints A reg Hatch Yup. Dads A reg Hatch , Almost. Icey's A reg Hatch Nope, and Steves HS Almost.

My collection has grown to 4 cars. All hatches, 1 P reg, 2 A reg and 1 B reg.

Plans for them are as follows.

A92 SYB Dark Metalic Green Hatch SYBil, To build a sporty engine with the spare block, new crank, new bearing a and big end shells, new rings gaskets and seals, new timing chain and tentioner, VC1 cam, stage 2 Blydensein head, Dellorto DHLA 40 and manifald and a Ralph 4 branch with ashly exhaust, new water pump, new clutch and a recon gearbox (maybe).

A442 VHR Light Metalic Green Hatch, Scrapper To be broken for spares recovery asits been lifted by the roof.

B231 OLJ Light metalic Blue Hatch, ex Piazza Still untouched the Piazza project, bit tatty at rear sills and duffed up wings. Unsure what its install for this hatch yet.

NLL 941P Brown Metalic Hatch, Scrapper Collected this car on Saturday. In pretty bad condition needing new floor both sides front and back, 2 rear inner and outer wheel arches, both sills inner and outer, both lower rear arches, bonnet, battery tray, inner front wings, rust at front right chassis rail ans work to the wiper windscreen panal as its rust holed.

Good bits are front panel, both doors, tailgate, both front wings (fibreglass), sunken headlights and surrounds and side indicators. Spare side windows on boot. 2 new springs still in box as well as timing chain. Tail gate shocks + many miriad of small bits and big bits. The wheels are Apollo 5j x 13" alloys made by KN engineering in the uk.

So its a spares recovery job for this poor old girl.

Nah, she is not phased by it. Any How two will be reduced soon. The P reg brown is rusty as the Titanic and the Green one has been chain lifted and is devoid of some parts.
