Desperately Wanted!

Postby star-me-kitten » 02 Jun 2005, 21:24

I am desperately searching for a pea green, four door, 1.3 Chevette from the early to mid eighties. I am in Northern Ireland, and it is difficult to find any here, so I am now searching the mainland. I would like to buy one for a project - it was the first car I remember the parents having when I was a pup and loved it. Even cried when dad scrapped it. Any help at all would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum! Good to find another Northern Irelander on here, I'm originally from Omagh myself and will be returning there shortly for holidays. Anyway, there was a blue four door saloon going for sale in Armagh a month or so ago, I know this car personally as it is an ex-Edinburgh car, RSX 653Y. From what I remember it runs very well, but needed a bit of welding (what chevette doesn't?!) to the inside of the front arches, and the rear of the sills. I'll try and find the guy's contact details, hopefully he won't have scrapped it as this is what he was planning to do if it didn't sell. Chevettes in NI are like hen's teeth, the looks mine got when I was home were amazing! Where in Belfast are you based?

Ok, it isn't green, but it is a four door and is a lot more sound than I thought. Check out the link here. Ask seller a question seems to have disappeared, but I may be able to get in touch if you are interested.

Well I might be up Portstewart way over the next couple of weeks in my Chevette, so could drop by to let you have a test drive to make sure it is what you are after. Or alternatively I'll source you a chevette on the mainland and deliver it for the cost of ferry and petrol.
