i drive a Vauxhall Omega as a day to day car as it's more practical and comfy for the family, besides the chevette isn't roadworthy yet.

There seems to be a recurring theme of unroadworthiness here! My car was used as a daily driver, but she now lives in the garage after failing the MoT. Astra has taken up the job of daily driver, but hopefully will have the little car going by the middle of the week.

We could drive the Chevette everyday as it's Tax'd Mot'd etc etc, but he prefers to drive the CRX (much to my annoyance because I love going out in the Chevette)

Used to drive the Chevette every day but the old girl aint fantastic on the motorway, plus I used to hate seeing her sitting out in the rain on my street so now she's safely tucked away in the garage and I've got a Saab 900 I 16v 5dr Combi-Coupe :D

Don't listen to him neily - it's a trick. He's gonna take it apart, turret it and then leave it in his garage :P

Don't sell your car to Tim Neily - he will paint it green, generally abuse it and then allow several men to molest it with a piece of wood and a block and tackle. Cruel man.

unfortunately i must also say that my chevette is "on blocks" so to speak, but should be on the road again in 2 days, and road "legal" by next weekend (how important can a towing eye be").

its my daily driver, tho i dont really like taking her out in the rain, if patched the leaks from the battery tray so maybe i can now :P

Quick question as most of our cars are off road  for the mot does the 77" kadett saloon i have, does it have a fog light switch as i cant find it is it a requirment for mot?

Postby BamOpel » 16 Oct 2005, 10:25

I've always been lead to believe that with things like fog lights..if you have them they need to function to pass the mot. But this isn't gospel.
I once had a fail on a bald spare tyre, I went home removed the spare from the boot, went back without it & got a pass ! :?
My Kadett is my 'daily' driver though I walk/cycle to work so don't use it everyday. It lives in the garage & comes out a couple of times a week in all weather. Also use my girlfriend's mk2 Golf for any journeys involving too much motorway.
Drive it like you mean it !!

Yep, the Little Beast (82 Acadian) is my daily driver.... that's why so many non-critical repairs get delayed till they're getting critical, cause I can't find a bodyshop that'll give me a loaner so I can get to work while they patch up my darling, and I can't get into THAT much of it myself in case I can't get it all back together in time for work... At least my regular mechanic has loaners, although his loaners are usually such abused pieces of crap that I'm always sooooo glad to get my slow, grumpy old car back... :D

My kadett is my daily driver, or was until the engine gave up, in the process of swapping the engines in the evenings ater uni. Just want to running again before i get a SR lump in there.

I have had to use my MK2 Golf Driver as a daily driver since. No way as much fun.
