hey, like the site. bought a 78 chevette about six months ago that seemed in pretty good condition ...but have since had to put a fair amount of money into fixing it up. now i guess it's got a spun bearing on the crankshaft and i have to replace the engine if i want to keep it. i'd really like to, but can't afford to spend much. anyone have or know where i can get an engine for cheap?

My first car was a used 1983 grey Scooter that I got in 1987. Love, love, loved it! Sadly destroyed it in a Chevette versus truck accident a year later. :( Next got a used 1981 two-tone Chevette which I couldn't kill. Drove it for about 4 years til I had a baby and needed a sensible car (a wagon). So then it sat with no plates or registration, but we would take it out for joy rides for fun on the property. The mice called it home instead.
Wish I could get another Chevette. The best first and second car a girl could ask for.

I own a 1976 Chevette in mint condition. I get alot of attention at Cruise Nights. I am the original owner and she has 51,000 miles. I will send some photos of her at the next car show. I am so proud of her she has never let me down.
